Apex Restaurant Management, Inc. was founded in 2005 by Tabbassum Mumtaz, Ajay Dhillon and Ray Wilia when the company originally acquired 18 existing Long John Silver’s restaurants in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. In 2006 the company purchased an additional 8 seasoned locations in Texas and Oklahoma. In September 2007, 23 existing LJS and A&W restaurants in the Sacramento, Modesto and Bakersfield, CA markets were acquired. In June 2008 Apex Restaurant Management, Inc. acquired an additional 44 existing LJS and A&W restaurants in its core North Texas market and the growing Tulsa/Oklahoma City markets which established the company as the largest LJS franchisee in the country with 92 restaurants operating in 6 states.
Since 2005 Mr. Mumtaz has served as President and COO of Apex Restaurant Management, Inc. Mr. Mumtaz has been responsible for managing over 1,500 Apex Restaurant Management, Inc. employees including all restaurant operations, marketing, and financing, in addition to new restaurant development and remodeling activities. Mr. Mumtaz serves on the LJS Franchise board as well as other operating and technical committees. Prior to forming Apex Restaurant Management, Inc. Tabbassum owned and operated several Wendy’s Restaurant locations. From 1993-97 Mr. Mumtaz held several management positions with the Long John Silver’s Restaurant group. Tabbassum has over 15 years of rigorous operations management experience in the QSR industry in addition to considerable expertise in the areas of franchise development.
Mr. Dhillon has served as the company’s CEO and has been responsible for managing the finance, accounting and administrative functions at the company’s corporate offices in Pleasanton, CA. Ajay also owned and operated several Subway Restaurant operations from 1990-1996. Prior to forming Apex Restaurant Management, Inc. in 2005 Mr. Dhillon served as President of the Property Appraisal Group, a residential property appraisal company serving the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Walia has served as the Company’s CFO and has been primarily involved in the company’s acquisition activities and the successful development of various financing partnerships. Mr. Walia is also the President of California Home Loans/RW Pacific Home Mortgage Inc. a well established and highly successful mortgage brokerage business. Ray has a tenacious history in building new businesses, securing strong customer loyalty and forging strategic relationships with external business partners.
